The Simplicity's Elegance: November 2008

okay, i know this post is long overdue, and we have been back from Taipei for more than a week now ... let me post some of the pics here and let those pics do the talking. however, i must say, taipei is definitely a heaven for chinese book lovers and foodies like me.

DAY 1

7.30pm we arrived at rainbow hotel around 7 plus. pat's taiwanese friends brought us out for dinner.

we took our 1st meal in taipei at 天外天火锅!

DAY 2

this is where we put up for this trip, rainbow hotel which centrally located at 西门町!

like SF right? but hor, to tell you the truth, SHE'S NOT SF!!

SF was still in bed when the pic was taken!!

this is the National Democracy Memorial Hall.

omg! look! HP "打包" 2 cartons of 满汉大餐-葱烧牛肉面 back to

spore. according to her, this brand of instant noodle is super delicious!

this is 台北101! i kept on calling it as "北京101". hahaha!

YES! this is the very famous 士林夜市！

tell you! the 蛤仔煎, 大鸡扒and香芒雪花冰are SUPER DUPER YUMMY! anyone who visit shilin night mkt, die die must try their mango ice!! it really tastes so much better than the HK mango ice that we can find in Spore. the taiwanese have their mangoes cut up in bigger cubes and they’re REALLY sweet! the ice is so smooth & fruity and almost sorbet-like ... unlike the ice kacang we have ... it melts once in your mouth and you could taste the natural mango flavour in every mouthful of snow ice ... YUMM YUMM!

DAY 3

if you wanna try royal delicacies, 京兆尹 is a must-go for you!

no kidding! their royal "dim sum" taste so special.

3:00pm SF brought us to miniature musuem after lunch ... it is a world of enchantment with a collection of miniature houses, room boxes, dolls, miniature antique cars, toys and others.

these 2 are my favourite. the one above is a bakery shop,

and the one below is "Ting Ting's Bedroom".

the details on the miniatures are so precise and awe-inspiring. look

at the broken egg on the floor (left pic) and the quaker oats in the

store room (right pic)! amazing huh?

I have a ton of these pics but I couldn’t resist putting

them here as the miniatures are just too lovely!

this 葱抓饼looks exactly like our roti prata,

but tastes so much nicer!

taipei 钱柜 KTV very high-tech, this red device would
"beam" when our KTV room is ready.

DAY 4
-

11:00am departed to taichung.

this is 誠品旗艦店「勤美-誠品綠園道」. notice the featured wall
behind us? they actually put growing greenery plants
on wall, interior and exterior.

all these from 台中逢甲夜市. i especially like the
炒面面包 and 黄金薯.

we took MRT to 淡水, then took the Red 26 to
Fisherman's Wharf, 渔人码头.

can you tell how much HP enjoyed the ambience and

music in 水湾民歌餐厅?

SF discovered "this place" on her way to WC.

remember this place? this is in "命中注定我爱你",

DAY 5

11:30am pat pat they all going to 北投. i decided to split with them and do my book shopping alone. i headed to one of the 诚品bigger outlet in 敦化南路. wow, it is a well stocked 3-storey (or 4) book store ... but too bad i couldnt really buy much cuz my luggage was already overweight, and it was really upsetting. sigh.

5:30pm Melody met up with us after work and brought us to 星光三越 and one of the night market that's near her house.
